Mayor Update…

Several members of the North Stamford Association Board of Directors met this week with Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons and her team to discuss the many construction projects (and traffic issues!) going on in and around North Stamford.

Mayor Simmons acknowledged the North Stamford community’s frustration with ongoing traffic and construction projects and asked for continued patience for long-term infrastructure improvements. She and her staff agreed to keep residents informed through weekly newsletters (links below).

A few notable updates include:

  • Lakeside Drive Bridge: Completion and open to traffic by end of 2024.
  • Sewer Line Project/Perna Lane: Several other streets coming. Expected completion by August 2025.
  • Hunting Ridge Road Bridge: Completion targeted for Spring 2025.
  • Cedar Heights Bridge and Wire Mill Bridge Projects: Ongoing; Cedar Heights aims for ASAP completion, while Wire Mill Bridge scheduling will avoid overlapping closures.

While we all understand the need for infrastructure improvements, nobody likes the negative impact it can have on our day-to-day lives. We at least should be able to expect fair warning when these projects are being planned and launched. They should be coordinated with State projects (this will certainly be on our list of items to bring up at the October 9th Candidate Forum!) and we need better attention to how multiple projects might conflict with each other. The NSA board will stay on top of this and do our best to communicate back to membership on project statuses and any updates we receive from the mayor’s office.

Meanwhile, here are a few resources that may be helpful:
