Update: Chestnut Hill Park Norway Maple

9/28/17. An on site meeting was held at the Chestnut Hill Park to review the matter of the removal of the Norway Maple. The meeting was attended by several North Stamford Association Directors as well as representatives of the City Operations Department.

As previously shared, the Tree Warden wanted to remove the tree. A complaint was filed by an area resident to save the tree and shift the location of the playground. The Tree Warden offered to replace the tree with three other trees of a different specie.

Positive discussion took place at the site and City Operations Director offered to double the number of replacement trees to six. He stated that he wanted the NSA to participate in the selection of replacement trees that will be proposed by the Tree Warden. None of the participants wished to cause any delay to the construction of the new playground. The offer by the City was accepted and we can expect plantings in the Spring.
