9/22/17. Members are reminded that the Public Hearing to save the Norway Maple at Chestnut Hill Park will be held on Friday, September 22 at 6:00 PM at the Government Center. The consultant designing improvements to the Park assured us in May that no trees would be removed. In July word was received that the attractive Crimson tree would be removed. It is our position that the tree should remain and that the designated play area can be moved four feet to the south.
The tree provides shade for children and adults using the park. The North Stamford Association has the support of City Representatives Dennis Mahoney, Susan Nable and Gail Okun to save the tree.
