Please Renew Your NSA Membership for 2026

The North Stamford Association works year-round to preserve the character, safety, and quality of life that make our part of Stamford unique. Some of our efforts are visible: from community forums and shredding events to welcome signs and beautification projects.

But much of our work happens quietly in the background.

We engage with city and state officials, monitor zoning proposals, meet with developers, and advocate for responsible, sustainable decisions that protect North Stamford from overdevelopment and unnecessary density.

If you value having an independent, community-led voice looking out for you and your neighborhood, please join or renew your membership today. With hundreds of families behind us, that voice carries real weight.

Join or renew here: https://www.northstamfordassoc.org/join/ or keep an eye out for your renewal mailer which will arrive over the next two weeks.

Thank you for supporting the work that keeps North Stamford the community we all chose to call home.

We can’t do this without your support.

Things We’re Keeping an Eye on…

1954 Long Ridge Road – Proposed Cluster Development

Some North Stamford residents may remember the 22.5-acre property at 1954 Long Ridge Road (just south of Sawmill Road), formerly a 15-room convent owned by the Diocese of Bridgeport.

The current owner, G&T Long Ridge LLC, has proposed redeveloping the site into 19 clustered single-family homes while placing 14.7 acres under a permanent conservation easement.

The project came before the Environmental Protection Board (EPB) in November. Board members requested additional information, including alternative site layouts that better protect the vernal pool and surrounding habitat, as well as independent reviews of potential hydrology impacts. EPB action has been deferred pending those submissions.

The North Stamford Association board will meet with the applicant’s representative to review their plans. We will evaluate the proposal carefully as more information becomes available, and will keep our members apprised of our findings.

If you live near the site or have thoughts or concerns you’d like us to consider, please reach out to us. Hearing from neighbors is essential as we monitor the next steps in this process.

The Miller Excitement of 1843

Sunday, December 7th • 1PM

Stamford History Center
1508 High Ridge Road
Stamford, CT 06903 US

On a freezing night in January 1843, shocked residents witnessed a public kidnapping in downtown Stamford. Martha Blackwell Miller, 25, was dragged from her hotel room and forced into a waiting carriage by her estranged husband. The carriage sped through the streets and on to New York. This was part of a scandalous divorce case that split the town into two hostile camps.

Martin Kivell will give a talk on the subject at the Stamford History Center on the “Miller Excitement”. Come and learn about the events that made the Kardashians look tame by comparison. Martin was the Education Director of the Stamford Historical Society. His articles have appeared in the CCNY Alumni Magazine and Cracked.com.
