Stamford 2035 Master Plan – Update & Public Hearings

The City of Stamford is in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan, which will guide growth and development through 2035. A major point of discussion is whether to reclassify some neighborhoods currently zoned for single-family homes into a new “Residential Neighborhood (R-2)” land-use category. While the draft plan itself would not change zoning, it sets the stage for possible future zoning changes that could allow “missing middle” housing types (duplexes, triplexes, townhomes) and expanded accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
The North Stamford Association is monitoring this closely and is aligned with other neighborhood groups who share our concerns. Our mission is to advocate for the interests of the 06903 community, and preserving North Stamford’s character is central to that mission.
The City Planning Board will hold two upcoming public hearings where residents can make their voices heard:
- Sept 9 (virtual)
- Sept 16 (hybrid – in person and online)
Written comments are also being accepted through Sept 16 (link below).
We encourage all members to review the draft plan to learn more about the proposals and get involved if you are able.
