Cell Tower Proposed, Public Comment Deadline
Per a public notice dated October 19, 2021, Verizon Wireless “is proposing to build a 127-foot monopine telecommunications facility in the vicinity of 161 Sky Meadow Dr., Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT 06903. Public comments regarding potential effects from this site on historic properties may be submitted within 30 days from the date of this publication to: Project 6121008446 – JLD c/o EBI Consulting, 21 B Street, Burlington, MA 01803, or (203) 231-6643.” By our count, the deadline for public comment is Thursday, November 18, 2021.
From NSA President Tom Lombardo: “The Connecticut Siting Council has the final say, but the impact on the historic home is interesting. The Bernadine Order of nuns signed an agreement with the cell company about 20 years ago. The site was part of the mansion at #159 and is located a few hundred feet – and on the same parcel – as the Villa Maria school.”
See the Stars in Stamford (Maybe)
As seen recently in The Advocate, the Stamford & Museum Nature Center has big plans for the Stamford Observatory “to bring the dusty edifice straight into the 21st century through a multi-million dollar renovation plan backed by community members, scientists and the government at large.” Also noted that, “the finished center will include dedicated classroom space, a planetarium with 125 seats and an outdoor observation deck.” However, “the nature center needs to finish raising money to complete the project.”
Beware of “Check Washing”
It was recently reported to the Board of NSA that there was an incident of “check washing” in North Stamford after an outgoing letter in a resident’s mailbox was removed. Presumably the mailbox flag was a hint to the thief.
With this in mind, we direct you to these tips from the United States Postal Inspection Service and the USPS website’s page to locate a nearby collection box.
