6/26/17. PLANNING BOARD MEETING NOTICE, June 28, 2017
Bull’s Head could become the choke-point of a greatly expanded business campus on Long Ridge Road that is not permitted under Stamford’s current zoning laws.
The expansion plan, proposed by developer BLT, would fill the open land and woods in the former Olin and GE sites at 120-292 Long Ridge Road with 804 rental apartments and an additional 2,000 parking spaces – dramatically increasing traffic and disrupting nearby neighborhoods. In survey after survey, Stamford’s citizens say that traffic congestion is bad. This plan would make it worse.
But that’s not all. The zoning law changes proposed by BLT, the owner of the properties, would open the door to adding sprawling apartment buildings at the commercial campus it owns at 800 Long Ridge, plus other businesses’/developers’ campuses at 777 Long Ridge, 900 Long Ridge, 201 High Ridge and 225 High Ridge. It creates the potential for thousands of apartments where there are currently none.
Stamford’s single-family neighborhoods are under siege. The 120-292 Long Ridge project, which spans 80 acres, will reduce the quality of life from the Mid-Ridges to Stillwater Road to the Merritt Parkway and beyond…and exacerbate already intolerable traffic congestion on the roads that lead into and out of Bull’s Head.
The Stamford Planning Board will vote on BLT’s proposed plan and zoning-law changes at its meeting on Wednesday, June 28th at 6:30 p.m., 4th floor cafeteria
Stamford Government Center. (888 Washington Blvd.)
Please attend the meeting to learn more and to demonstrate your concern for irresponsible development in Stamford.
